ABOUT ME
Meet My Family

About Jamin & Family

Jamin grew up at Christian City Children's Home, Union City, GA. Jamin's parents were house parents there; his mother served as a houseparent there for over 40 years raising hundreds of kids from broken families. He grew up in a large family with strong values.
Rodrigo and Jamin have shared twenty-four wonderful years together and have been married for the past ten.
In 2005, we moved to Duluth because we loved the community and believed in the strength of its schools, and knew this was where we wanted to start our family.
In 2008, we welcomed our son, Ben, into the world. He has grown up right here his entire life. He is a proud Duluth-ian, like his dads!

About Rodrigo: Rodrigo serves as the School Clinician at Berkeley Lake Elementary. Prior to moving to America in 2001, Rodrigo was a professional, award-winning Bodyboarder.

About Ben: Ben has attended elementary and middle school right here in our fantastic Gwinnett County Public Schools, right here in Duluth. Ben is attending his Senior Year at Duluth High School & Maxwell High School of Technology (studying Collision and Welding). Ben has also started dual enrollment at Gwinnett Technical College in the evenings as he prepares to study Heavy Diesel Mechanics upon graduation next spring.

Family: Family is important to us. We are active members of North Point Community Church. We regularly visit our families in South Atlanta and in Brazil.
On most weekends, you’ll probably spot our family walking our big, fluffy dog Jax and enjoying our beautiful city, restaurants, and entertainment—it’s the kind of hometown childhood we dreamed of when we chose to build our lives and raise our son here.

My Approach & Strengths
I’ve always believed that leadership starts with listening. I approach each opportunity by asking questions, analyzing carefully, and keeping an open mind to all perspectives.
Fiscally responsible both in my professional work and personal life, I’m committed to managing resources wisely. I believe I have applied this prudence (learned from my amazing mother) as I have considered all financial decisions and votes over the past four years in my elected role as City Council Member.
I have worked well and will continue to work well with every Council Member, Mayor, City Manager, City Department Heads, and the entire city team over the past four years. I deeply respect the leadership and team at the City of Duluth, as well as the efficiency of our city departments.

Friends and neighbors often describe me as high-energy and determined—I utilize my energy and drive to serve as your City Council Member in Duluth.
